March WIPs and Finishes

Time for the March Check-In for the Fully Finished Gallery SAL.
The goal of this SAL is to motivate stitchers to get their stitched projects fully finished, banishing the stuffed drawers and under the bed boxes that are full of items to be finished.

I only have one FFO to share. I completed the stitching in February and the finishing in March. Snowmen Are Cool is an older pattern by Waxing Moon Designs. The snowman button from Just Another Button Company was substituted for the one on the model. I wasn't able to find the featured one.

I've worked some more on One Dozen Quakers. It's so much fun working on it that is hard to put it down and move on to the next project.

The right most motif is done, now to move to a larger Q-Snap to complete the right side border.

I worked on the basket/urn of flowers on the top area of Christmas Garden. Hopefully I will have better success when I tackle the top border again. I've taken it out at least three times it seems. Need to work on that counting mojo.
This month I'm also working on 2 Ornaments for Challenges. I working on 2 of my 12 Days of /Christmas Stockings.

 It’s the tenth!!

Time for the Fully Finished Gallery SAL Check-In

Host:

Thank you Rachel for hosting again.

My two for January are a legacy piece stitched by a stitching friend and my Quaker Pin Ball from my 'Time to Fully Finish Pile'.

I can’t remember the source of this pattern at the moment. My Guild stitched it as group project many moons ago. I was able to find a bracelet on Etsy that I used for the band.

May 2022

May was Blackbird Designs Focus Month. My main focus was to be What Remains, I made some progress but not as much as I had hoped.

What Remains, Blackbird Designs

I had started Secret Garden some time ago, and decided it was time for a revisit. I had made the most progress on the alphabet strawberry, with a modest start on the box top as well.

before
I realized that things were not working out as charted. I couldn't find my counting error for anything. I finally gave up and put the whole thing in time out. When I took it out again I finally found my error. I restarted on a new piece of fabric with DMC 321. I managed to get through the counting this time and have an fully finished strawberry. I'm still working on the ribbon topper, can't seem to get it just right.   I will most likely frog the original strawberry and re-stitch. I want to have a strawberry to match the box top. Just need some more Turkish Red.

I also worked on top of the drum for Peacock Pinkeep. I stitched the band for the drum but never started the top. I had a good portion done when I realized I was stitching on the wrong side of my fabric! Then came the question start over or continue? I gritted my teeth and frogged then restarted. I think in this case it was worth it. I'm loving it.

(This fabric is not photographing well. It looks much better IRL)

A rocky start to my focus designer but not a bad ending.

I finished Hello Summer, by Plum Street Samplers. I did leave off the words.

I also stitched and finished 5 Rings, May's ornament from Celebration of Needlework's 12 Days of Christmas SAL.

My new start was Winter Cometh, Summer House Stitche Workes. Hope to complete this soon.

March 2021: Week 4

Thanks to WIPGO Weekend and 24 Hours of Cross Stitch Acrostic I have some FFOs and finishes.

With Easter being early this year I was pleased to finish a few seasonal pieces.

My Christmas Ornament this month, was number 3 from Starry Night by Prairie Schooler.

I'm still working on Portrait in Red and Lady Justice.
This is my progress thus far on PIR.
I need to fill in these areas and continue with the front area of her shoulders.
I'm still working on the ribbon (bow) at the front of Lady Liberty's dress. There are a lot more stitches there than I first thought.

Thanks for stopping by,

Gwen

Boo Ghost

My first fully finished for 2021is a small piece from Mill Hill. This was designed to be a pin. I covered the back with felt and added a hanger to make mine an ornament. This is the first project for the FB group 21 Halloween Cross-Stitch Projects in 2021. Only 20 more to go.

July: Smalls and Ornaments

Okay, so I'm trying to learn how this new Blogger works and failing! This will be quick, it has not been painless for far.

Plans for working primarily on some Christmas ornaments in July went awry. I did manage to complete one HOD Chalk Ornament. The other projects completed was a third Cricket Collection Scary-corn and a FFO of Hello Summer by Priscilla and Chelesa of Stitching with  the Housewives.
When I get some more black perle cotton I'll add the trim to the witch ornament. Silent Night will be most likely be a flat finish as well. Hope to FFO that one with some others a group when I get a couple more of my Chalk Ornaments stitched. Hello Summer What's in my Cup was finished as a small pillow. I added Rick Rack with beads as my trim.

I'd like to re-order these pics but it's a struggle right now. I hope I can figure this out and how to add captions before my next post.

Spring is on the way

This week  our temperatures are varing from the 80's to the 40's. The tree pollen has turned everything yellow. Yesterday we had high winds and a tornado warning. Spring will be here soon.

When I can concentrate on stitching, I've been working on Angus Dei. Not done with page one yet but I've made some progress.

Holiday Hoopla Easter is done for now. I want some Whisper for bunny's tail. I thought I had some somewhere in the mountain of floss/fiber in my stash but......  I guess I'll include some in the my next order from my OLNS. For now I've stitched the tail in DMC B5200 until I can get the Whisper.
