The Merry (Wet) Month of May

May 2018 is just hours away from being an entry in the history books. The last few days we have had an awful lot of rain. Hope this will help us as we approach summer to make up some of our deficit.

I think I'm slowly getting out of my stitching slum. This month I worked on two pieces from Praiseworthy Stitches', Halloween Frights Treat Box. The first is a candy corn that will be finished as Scissor fob and the other is the face of Frankie. Frankie will be finished as a needlebook.

After neglecting my Cheer Angel for some months, I finally started working  on her again.

I have just a small area of her face and blouse left to stitch. I also plan on adding some embellishment to the wings.

I had the great pleasure of taking a class with Jeannette Douglas this month. The class was co-sponsored by the Magnolia Sampler Guild and The Sampler Guild of Georgia. While Jeannette taught two classes I was only able to attend one. The class I took was Common Threads Two. In the tradition of Common Threads, this sampler has adapted to the area were it was being taught.  Our version includes some Georgia peaches, Cherokee Rose blossoms, a Spanish moss covered tree, and the gold domed State Capitol. Stitched in silks on your choice of  32ct or 36ct linen it is proving to be a fun stitch.

The class was very enjoyable and I hope I'll be able to take another class with Jeanette.

SALs on Parade

I have three finishes for the month; and they are my SALs for 4 groups, Christmas Ornie SAL 2015, Hallowe'en Ornie 2015, Stitching Smalls 2015 and WipoCalypse 2015. My Christmas ornament was started some time ago and the final stitches done last Friday.  The theme of September was trees. The  Halloween ornament I mean Halloween small, was a freebie. It's a little big for an ornament but will be neat for a pillow, pincushion or box top.

and my Halloween Small from Glory Bee. I changed some of the colors to ones I had at hand. Boo!, a quick, fun, spooky word to stitch.

August SAL Updates

Wednesday was the date for the Smalls SAL Check-In. My Smalls this month were the Thimble Purse for my Christmas Doll and LynnB's Mini Black cat for The Halloween Ornies SAL.

I used the heart from the pattern to personalize the back of my Thimble Purse.

Front and back assembled, just need to make and attach cording.

My black cat is wearing a beaded collar and the little spider has eyes!

The Thimble a Purse is the last part of my doll and also one of my WIPocalypse projects. The other that I worked on was Christmas at Hollyberry Farm. My house has all it's windows and the door in place.

Stitching Smalls SAL

The last stitch was been taken and the beads added. My Christmas Pincushion Doll skirt is now stitched! Yeah!! I added the final bead on Tuesday just in time for The 2015 Smalls SAL and WIPocalypse check-in for July. The doll in the model is wearing a burgundy under skirt, but I plan on using the blue fabric in the background for my doll. Blue is my favorite color and the color of the ribbon in my dol'ls hair.
Now for the courage and skill to do a good job with the finishing.

My Heartland

Double Duty

Smalls SAL 2015

My Smalls Check-In is late. I've shown my first finish the tuck-away pillow earlier, 

My second finish is a hedgehog pincushion. This pincushion is from a class I took at A Stitcher's Gathering over the weekend. The other parts of the set is a needle book and a gaming purse.

WIPocalypse 2015

Since I shared these pictures I've started on the needle case cover. I haven't gotten very far so I haven't taken any pictures yet. Hopefully by next check-in I will have more to show.

And my final update. The apron for my pincushion doll is growing.

April Wrap Up Smalls and All

I am super excited about the Smalls SAL check-in for this month. I have some finishes to celebrate. I used two of the motifs from Stitch-Creation's pincube to stitch a floss tag holder and a pinkeep. I'm almost done with the assembly, just need to decide how to finish the edges.

Finish number two is "Growing Love" Stitcher's Wallet. This is now on the top of the To-Be-Finished pile.

My altered Altoid tin is finish number three. Yeah! The theme for the Halloween Ornie SAL was tombstone. While I found myself with several good candidates to stitch I had a hard time making up my mind. I was running out of time when I decided on the tombstone from one of the panels of Drac-in-the-Box, JCS Halloween 2013. I got out some graph paper and made up the two tombstones on either side, then used it as a Tin-Topper.

February's Smalls Check in

I managed a finish this month. After changing my mind several times I found this chart by Julia Lucas Designs in Just Cross Stitch, 2013 Halloween Ornament Issue. The model uses beads for some of the bones but I just used floss and plain cross stitch. I stitched it last week and did the finishing over the weekend. I also finished the Moon Witch from last month's Halloween Ornie SAL.

My Halloween Ornie for January is the Witch Moon a freebie by Cheryl A. Smith. This was a quick stitch. As the month was about to slip away from me, she will also be posted as my 2015 Smalls SAL project. She is stitched on a piece of 28ct black fabric that was meant for another project. I have not decided yet on the finishing.
