The Fourth and a First

On the Fourth, I decided to do some seasonal stitching. So out of  the stash came Acorn House's Patriotic Drum Box. This design came out a few years ago and is super cute. I managed to get the drum sides stitched and now need to complete the top and bottom as well as the scissor fob. Not a lot of stitching on this one.






 


After working on the drum box for awhile I gave in to Stitcher's Startitis
and started a new Scarlet Letter  reproduction. S.Wood is a miniature sampler that will measure about 4 x 3-1/4 inches when stitched.  The border is 3 rows deep. There is a verse, a cartouché and some small birds and strawberries motifs. Two rows of the border and the first row of the verse are done.

Margery Dean is my usual project for Sunday. This week I had to restitch the portion I worked on at least twice before I could get it right. Because of the frogging Margery is not making and appearance this week.

Margery June Update

Most of my stitching last week was on Margery Dean. I envisioned being half way through with her by now. I am no way near that goal. I did get the top cartouche border filled in, with just a few stitches still missing. I stitched the saying a few threads higher. I wanted a more centered loo, like the photograph. The charted saying sits lower in the cartouche and is only about 2 threads above the border.  I also worked some more on the right side border. Now I need to fill in some more honeysuckle and decide on the next big motif to work on.

March: Week 1

Several stitching friends and I,  have signed up for Jackie du Plessis' Class offered by the Shining Needle Society. The project is Rhapsody in Blue. It's a very cute sewing basket, with a pinkeep and strawberry. We are to have the stitching complete and be ready for an online finishing instructions on the 18th. This is my progress so far.












The stitching on 2 of my SL Quaker Pincushions is complete. Yeah!!  I am pretty excited about that. I have 2 more to go, I also need to get going again on Margery, she languished this week. I worked a little filling in the flowers.

Febuary Wrap Up

My house at Hollyberry Farm now has a roof and I have started building the walls.








Margery Dean's honeysuckle border is growing.









The bunny from the tease in my last post is the main attraction on my latest finish Bunnies In The Garden. My  biggest accomplishment in February was the assembly of this project that has been sitting around for too long. The assembly instructions were well written and easy to follow. I should never have taken so long to do the finishing. In addition to the three pieces in the char, needle roll, pinkeep and scissor weight, I stitched 2 additional bunnies and covered a retracting tape measure. The bunny on the back is over one.

Since then I have been roaming the stores looking for trim and embellishments for things in my To-Be-Assembled Basket. I am working on getting a few more projects out of this basket.Hope to have some more to share as the 2013 rolls along.

February:Week Two

After a week of gray skies and constant rain, the sun is out today. The temps have dipped some but still it's a great change to see the sun again.

The past week everyone in this neck of the woods stayed  indoors unless it was absolutely necessary. I was able to make some progress on most of my projects.

I have almost completed page 1 of Christmas at Hollyberry Farm. Page one ends with letter P of the large alphabet on the right and the top portion of the roof at the bottom.





I will finish the roof this week then decide if I should continue with page 2 or drop down to page 3 and work on the house.






 





Next up is The Ann Bowers Sampler.
The suggested SAL schedule for February is to work through the carnation band and row 2 of the second alphabet.



So far I have a small start on the assignment for this month, not sure I will make it.









I am stitching along with Nicola and others on Scarlet  Letter samplers this year. I started out with Margery Dean, a WIP and this past week added the Quaker Pincushions.
Getting the border in on Margery Dean has gone a little slowly but I did make it all the way to the right side. Here's hoping I have counted correctly.

On Saturday I pulled out a long ago stitched project and started the assembly. I am in need of some ribbon and a couple of buttons or beads to complete this project. Do you recognize it? Hope to have it complete by next post and include pictures then.

February start

I didn't get any finishing done this weekend but, I was able to work some more on page 1 of Christmas at Hollyberry Farm.









I have taken the challenge and joined Nicola in her year of Scarlet Letter Stitching. I am plan is to stitch-a-long on Margery Dean. I would also like to stitch the Quaker Pincushions. This is the start on MD from last year.
