June

 June was all about Put a Bird on It and a few new starts.

I finally passed the 50% completed mark on Put A Bird On It. I’m close to finishing Big Blue. This motif is massive. Once I complete this motif I’ll have 6 more motifs to work on. 

 My new starts revolved around some travel I was fortunate to take in June. I’ve had a start on Reflections of London, Reflections of Ireland, and Reflections of Scotland. Each of these Ink Circles charts are about the same size and I’m stitching them on 32ct Fiber On A Whim, Moonstone. 

I managed to reach the top right corner of Reflections of Ireland using DMC 4045. Love the greens in this skein.

The real life thistles I’ve seen IRL seemed to have a blue tinge but ’m really loving working with this DMC 4505. The Thistle turned out really nice. Now I can see the dragons on each side.

March 2024 Progress

I’ve been making good progress on each.

The latter half of the month was spent doing pre-stitching for an in-person class. The project, a huswife, was taught by Jackie of It’s Fine-ally Finished at Sassy Jacks Stitchery in North Carolina. It took me all of the 3 weeks prior to class to get my stitching done. There were 25 in the class and we had a great time assembling the project and decorating the wonderful box made by Mr. Miller.

January/February 2024

It’s hard to put all that I worked on in January and February in one post, so I’ll just be sprinkling them in as I go along. In the mean time here are the first 4. 

The houses on the left still need their roofs, but I’ve started the antler on right side.

The top border of Christmas Garden is giving fits. I think I have taken it out at lease 3 times now. Still working on the top portion of the design and will get back to the border later.

I didn’t take a before picture, but this is my progress so far. The gold on the A is the wing for my my still headless angel. The shepherd and sheep are done and on to the next set of letters.

Three Finishes and A Marathon

 Brave New Year by Ink Circles,  the designer focus for April, is stitched. This is stitched with DMC 4515. Instead of stitching a year I plan to add this Mill Hill heart charm. Still need to decide exactly how I will finish the piece.

I finally put the last stitch into Halloween at Hollyberry Farm. This was turning into The Neverending Project. So happy to have it done.

My Christmas ornament for April was Yule Flower from JCS ornament issue 2004.

Fourteen hours, 31 minutes , 15 seconds. My total time stitching time for the April 24 Hours of Cross Stitch Marathon. I worked on Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow, and started a second Ink Circles project, Another Year Creeps By. It's just a small section of the border. I will be stitching this as one piece, instead of individual ornaments.

I didn't meet my WIPGO goals but I did spend some time on The Game and Olive Harrowgate. The numbers for May are 8 (Hello Summer, Plum Street Samplers), 13 Free (Lady Justice, Mirabelia), and 14 (Lady Justice, Mirabelia). I wanted to make some make some real progress on Lady Justice, so I have her on my board several times. For May she got called twice. I'm a little over working on the green in her dress. Switching back to working on the ribbon of her sash seems like a great idea. May work 5 days on dress and 5 on sash. We will see.

Making a list is usually a death knell for me. I would really like for 2019 to be the year of WIPs for me. While I haven't counted, I know the number is staggering. So here is what I want to do in 2019.

This is my stitching starting point for 2019.

I've started (again) to organize my stash. The goal is to avoid buying this I have already purchased and just get what I need to complete the ones I already have. To that end the all by two number groups of  DMC floss (100s and 300s) are sorted, tagged and bagged. I need some more labels then I can complete this and move on to the specialty threads.
