Honoring the Fourth!

I decided it was time to a finish so this past weekend I worked on a project that I almost forgot I had stitched. In honor of the Fourth, I pulled out My Country Sewing Set and set about finishing it. Everything has been stitched to awhile as you can tell by the date, it just needed to be assembled. The box is a limited edition Hershey Kiss tin that was available in 2007.

There is one more piece of the set that I not attempted yet. It is an emery.  The emery is a one inch pyramid that resembles a Hershey Kiss when complete. I will have to try that later when I can devote some more time to it.

Olympic Challenge

For the past two weeks while watching the Olympics I have been working on a sewing set. My goal/challenge was to finish the stitching. During the Closing Ceremony on Sunday I was able to complete all but my initials and the date for My Country Sewing Set by Jane Timmers-Fancy Work.

I don't have a picture today it has been overcast and raining for the past 3 days. This will go a long way to relieve the drought that we have been experiencing the last few years.

Stitching in the Mountains

While vacationing with my family in the mountains of VA, I had time to do some stitching. Between visiting, sightseeing, shopping, taking pictures, and classes I stitched.

Some deer that stopped my our unit for a visit.

I completed my first ornament from Old Town Needlework of Scottsdale, AZ and a floss holder for a friend. I also worked on Brave Heart, LHN and started My Country Sewing Set, FW.

My color scheme for my ornaments is cream and gold. This first ornament used Petite Frosty Rays and is stitched on 18ct cream canvas.

My progress thus far on Brave Heart and My Country Sewing Set.

Braids and things.......

Last week my order from Lacis arrived with my bone lucet and 2 books on making braids using a lucet. I recently learned to make cord with a lucet while at Celebration of Needlework in NH. I finally got a chance to play with my new lucet on Saturday. The lucet we used in class is made of wood so the bone lucet is taking some getting use to. I think I like the feel of the wood lucet better, but I will keep practicing with both.

I was able to complete most of the stitching and finishing on 2 of my exchange pieces. They have to be mailed by the end of the month. Now I just have 2 more, but they are not due until the end of June. They are next on the list of things to start.

The stitching on Martha's Little Pocket is now complete and I am waiting for my basket to arrive. This project by Jane Timmers of Fancy Work was designed for members of the Magnolia Sampler Guild who attended our April meeting. Jane has plans to release the chart later, check her blog for more information.

August Recap

The month of August flew by. It is finally getting a little cooler here. The last week of the month I was finally able to finish Blackbird Designs' Flea Market Souvenir, a scissor fob for my new limited edition Gingher 'Glory' Scissors and a treat bag for my DS.

I started out the month of September by completing 2 ATCs that I need to mail. I have fallen woefully behind on my exchange. I would love to complete at least 2 more before this long weekend is over. Now I am getting ready for 2 classes that require pre-stitching. One is a new

class from Jane Timmers, Fancy Work and the other an on-line class from Jackie du Plessis, It's Fine-ally Finished. My local EGA chapter is sponsoring the class by Jane and Jackie's class is being offered through Lois at Elegant Stitch.
