November: Geese and Trees

This month I finished another ornament from my Hands On Design, 12 Days. I'm on Day 6, the Geese are laying. One egg is stitched with Krenik gold number 4 blending filament, and some beads were added to the bottom holly spray. The others won't be stitched let alone finished in the next 4 weeks. So I'm considering these an early start to 2018.

In the next few weeks I'll be working on some name trees for my family. I stitched 2 last month and don't even want to think of how many more I want to do. Some may not be done until next year. These two still need to be decorated (beads and a tree topper). I've started adding beads to the purple ornament.

Bits and Pieces

I had hoped to have my DN Cheer Angel done this month. It didn't happen. I had to order some more fiber and although it arrived in record time, I haven't been of a mind to finish her. So no progress there.

I did put in the back stitching on my 12 Days Partridge Ornament and also stitched Dove and Hens. Hens still needs back stitching around the word but that shouldn't take too long.

I was naughty and started 2 new projects, Halloween at Hollyberry Farm and 2017 Fragments in Time. I'm stitching my Fragments on one piece of linen, 40ct Wren from PTP. This was a suggestion from by friend CarolB I was able to put in enough of the border to get a start on Fragment No. 1.

June Update: Glad to be back

I haven't done much stitching, blog reading or blogging, since my last post. I'm slowly getting back to stitching, and am challenging myself to get this post out before the end of the month. Hope I get chance to read some blogs next time I off work. I will be using this post for 4 SALs, Gifted Gorgeousness, Christmas Ornament and WIPocalypse 2017, and Stitching Smlls.

Currently, I'm working on Painted Pony's, I Love to Cheer Angel for my DN. I've stitched over some of the original design elements in favor of my DN's gym colors.

All but the back stitching is done on my first Hands On Design, 12 Days Ornament. Hope to get that completed soon so that I can get on the next ornament.

My DN graduated HS last month. I finished her graduation angel, just in the nick of time.  Well to be honest, it was very close to the wire. Yes fellow stitchers, I was attaching the twisted cord while waiting for the ceremony to start. But, praise be, I had it all done and ready for the family get together after graduation. She was very thrilled to receive it.

Two for January

January has been the month of Callaway Gardens School of Needle Arts for 46 years. It was announced last month that 2017 would be the last year for the needle arts school. It's a shame to see another stitching venue disappear. I was able to attend this year and took two classes.

My first class was two wonderful days with Betsy Morgan taking a Bristol Sampler Stitching Bag and a one day needlepoint class with Toni Gerdes, O Christmas Tree. Our class pieces for the Bristol Sampler Stitching Bag was the needle book, that we pre-stitched, and an English paper pieced pinkeep. In the boutique at Callaway, my friends and I found the perfect red and white pair of scissors to go with our bag, Yeah!!!

My second finish is my first ornament of 2017. It's a wonderful gift from my friend that was here to welcome me home after the Christmas break. It's also my first chalk board finish.

Come on back and visit,
Gwen
