Two for January

January has been the month of Callaway Gardens School of Needle Arts for 46 years. It was announced last month that 2017 would be the last year for the needle arts school. It's a shame to see another stitching venue disappear. I was able to attend this year and took two classes.

My first class was two wonderful days with Betsy Morgan taking a Bristol Sampler Stitching Bag and a one day needlepoint class with Toni Gerdes, O Christmas Tree. Our class pieces for the Bristol Sampler Stitching Bag was the needle book, that we pre-stitched, and an English paper pieced pinkeep. In the boutique at Callaway, my friends and I found the perfect red and white pair of scissors to go with our bag, Yeah!!!

My second finish is my first ornament of 2017. It's a wonderful gift from my friend that was here to welcome me home after the Christmas break. It's also my first chalk board finish.

Come on back and visit,
Gwen

OH WOW - I love your callaway pieces with Betsy! That scissor fob thingy is adorable. I've seen the Bristol bag on other blogs - it's a great project. Too bad about Callaway - so sad. I never did hear why they are stopping - did attendance fall off, were the directors wanting to retire - oh well - I never made it there because I've been attending rug hooking camp at the same time every year for 18 years and I just couldn't stop going. Wonder how you liked Toni's class? I am thinking of coming for the Fire and Ice class next year. Have a great week - Mel

I love our sled. I have stitched those too and I think they are so much fun. Those are the perfect scissors for your beautiful needle book and pinkeep. It is so sad to see another stitching venue disappear. so Sad

@woolwoman Attendance at Callaway did drop off some from past years, but I told that Callaway Gardens directors opted not to renew the Needlearts School and offered the time period to another group.
Loved Toni's class. One of my friends, Roberta, has Fire and Ice on her wish list.
